Sandra D. Taylor-Alli 1952-2021

She was born Dec. 23, 1952, in Toledo, to Curtis Catchings and James Taylor Sr. Sandra was a lifelong member of Third Baptist Church in Toledo. She earned her master’s degree from Kent State University and continued to work there until her retirement in 2014 as the office systems coordinator of the Registrar’s Office.

Sandra was a dedicated “Trekker” as an avid fan of Star Trek. She loved family trips and cruises, jazz concerts and movies. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and adored nature. She often sat on her back deck and fed whatever birds or animals came to visit. Most of all, Sandra was devoted to her family and proud of her two sons who have become leaders in their communities: Commander Elrico Alli of the Columbus Division of Police and Firefighters and James Alli of the Department of Defense.

Sandra is survived by her sons, Elrico (Leania) Alli and James Alli; her grandchildren, James Alli II, Justis Denise Alli, Ludelina Denise (Dylan) Nivens, Elrico Vincent Alli III, Benita Renee Alli and Curtis James Alli. She also is survived by her brother, J. Edward Taylor Jr.; her sisters, Sharon R. Taylor and Sonya A. Taylor; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Benita Camille Alli; and her brother, Edwin Cordell Taylor Sr.

Her wishes for cremation are being honored. Family and friends will be received to celebrate her life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at Scott Park Banquet Hall, 2541 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, OH 43607. Her final resting place will be with her family in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
