Kenneth E. Thornsberry Sr. 1948-2021

VIENNA — Kenneth E. Thornsberry Sr., 72, born Aug. 26, 1948, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021, at his home, with his family at his side.

Kenneth was the son of Leonard and Hazel Riddle Thornsberry. He grew up in Niles.

He was an ambulance driver in the Vietnam War, a member of the Combat Engineer and a member of the National Guard. Kenneth retired from Cold Metal Products. He was a bus driver for Niles City Schools.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jerrylynn Bucan Thornsberry, with whom he spent 28 years; a son, Kenneth Thornsberry Jr. of Phoenix City, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Christine (Carson) Nietert, and stepson, George (Mary) Bucan, both of McDonald; and a sister, Debbie Coleman of Jacksonville, Fla. Also surviving are grandchildren, Corban Baker of Elyria, Austin and Jack Bucan of McDonald, Logan Shields of McDonald, and Molly and Henry Durkin of Girard; a great-granddaughter, Ariana Baker of Medina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his son, Timothy M. Thornsberry; parents; a brother, Raymond; as well as sisters, Shirley Black and Nina Burns.

He was always there to help anyone in need. He had a deep love of family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Kenneth was an excellent carpenter. He loved to build and refinish furniture. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Kenneth loved all types of music and dancing. He was a diehard Cleveland Indians fan.

Services were held Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. Interment will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021, in Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna.
