Robert S. Quear 1928-2021

BESSEMER, Pa. — Robert “Bob” Sherman Quear, 92, born June 20, 1928, lifetime resident of Bessemer, was called home by his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, March 16, 2021.

A soldier in war, a warrior in life, this incredibly strong man can finally rest in peace, reunited with the family he built.

Robert proudly served as a private in the Army in World War II. He was a former employee of Bessemer Cement plant.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, with a magnetic personality. To know him was to love him. His laugh was contagious; his strength was inspiring.

Roger was always active. He enjoyed hiking and camping with family in Cook Forest State Park, Pa. He had an avid love for nature and animals. He would always feed the outside cats near his home — they would even get holiday meal leftovers.

Robert was preceded in death by wife, Jennie Quear; his sons, Navy Seal Chief Petty Officer Ronald Quear and Private First Class George Quear; and daughter, Jeanette McCoy.

He leaves behind loving daughters-in-law, Kathy Vitko Quear and Lori Quear; grandchildren, Bill Quear, Nick (Shelley) Quear, Kelly Quear (Bernard Chandler), Michael (Tammy) Klaus, David (Jessica) Klaus, Gene (Kristy) McCoy, George (Holly) McCoy, Robert (Katie) McCoy and Jennie McCoy (Shawn Franklin).

He also leaves great-grandchildren, Kyle (Alysia) Quear, Brandon Quear, Gina Quear, Destiny Price, Devin Price, Hunter Klaus, Lukas Klaus, Anita McCoy, Isaiah McCoy, Evangeline McCoy, Elisha McCoy, Malachi McCoy, Chloe McCoy, Gabryel McCoy and Leon McCoy; and great-great-grandchildren, Carson Quear, Carter Quear and Liam Roseling.

The family will receive friends noon to 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021, at Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home, Bessemer.

Following the service, Robert will be laid next to the love of his life and his children in Zion Cemetery, New Middletown.

Rest now, you kind, irreplaceable soul. You were missed in heaven, and now you will be missed on Earth.
