Margaret M. Wilster 1925-2021

LIBERTY — Margaret M. Wilster, 95, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.

She was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Youngstown, a daughter of Arthur and Mary Morrisroe Gaffney and was a lifelong member of the community.

Mrs. Wilister graduated from Liberty High School in 1944; that same year she married John A. “Jack” Wilster, Nov. 27, 1944. They were married for 52 years until her husband passed away Nov. 22, 1996.

In 1974, Mrs. Wilster became a receptionist for Dr. Humberto Latorre for 20 years, retiring in 1994.

Family was the most important part of Margaret’s life, as she and Jack raised seven children. She was a member of St. Edward Parish, its Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the Historical Society of Liberty Township, volunteered at the American Red Cross from 1979 to 1993 and was a member of the Over 55 Club of Liberty Township. She also enjoyed traveling and crocheting.

Margaret is survived by her children, Kathy Constantine of Fort Myers, Fla., Margie (Mark) Morretti of Heath, Barb (Tim) Evans of Strongsville, Jeanne (John) Sokol of Boardman, Jack (Maggie) Wilster of Liberty, Pat Wilster of Brookfield and Tim (Susan) Wilster of Lake Milton; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wilster was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Helen Dunbar; and her brothers, Thomas, Francis and James Gaffney.

The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, March 5, 2021, 11 to 11:45 a.m., at St. Edward Church, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian burial at noon, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin.

Due to COVID-19, please wear a mask and the 6-foot rule will be observed and please do not linger at the church unless you are planning to attend the Mass.
