Duane L. Wallace 1961-2020

COLUMBUS — Duane L. Wallace, 59, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, surrounded by those he loved the most, his kids and his granddog.

Duane is survived by his two children, Christo Wallace and Mercedes Wallace; his four brothers and sisters; a large group of beloved friends; and three of his treasured granddogs.

A son of Youngstown, Duane was passionate about his work of 15 years with Kirtland Country Club in Cleveland, where he resided for the majority of his adult life. He loved the members of the club and the golf course. When he wasn’t working, you could find him cheering and flexing his loyalty for the Cleveland Browns, supporting his son while watching the Cincinnati Reds or spending time with his three best friends, Richard LaRocca, Alex Katsaras and Mike McAllen.

For the past two-and-a-half years, he relentlessly fought cancer, though you would have never known it by his sheer fortitude and positive attitude.

He was steady, he was fiercely protective, he made people feel heard and seen, and he was passionate about the people he loved. His presence will be missed by all, his impact felt by many, and his smile and room-filling laugh will be remembered by everyone.

In accordance with his wishes, Duane’s body will be cremated at Edwards Funeral Services, Columbus. Due to COVID-19, there will be no formal services at this time. Calling hours will be held for the public as soon as it is safe for everyone to gather. Details to follow.

If he were to wish for anything to be done in his memory, he would wish for everyone to be kind to each other and to take each day head on and to the fullest.
