Denzil W. Deuley 1935-2020

DEERFIELD — Denzil W. Deuley, 85, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Denzil was born in Gassaway, W.Va., Sept. 29, 1935, to Colonel C. and Pearl Jones Deuley. He was one of six children.

Denzil married his one and only love, Effie Mae Dean Deuley, on July 3, 1953. They made their home in Youngstown and eventually moved back to Deerfield. He raised eight children, Vickie (Jeff) White of Ellsworth, Terry (the late Cathy) Deuley of Youngstown, Phyllis (the late Gary) Jenkins of Niles, Charles Deuley of Niles, Denzil A. Deuley of Deerfield, Ronald (Ginger) Deuley of Lancaster, Louella (Kim) Rydbom of Deerfield and their beloved daughter Tracey Lynne Deuley (deceased).

Denzil and Effie owned and operated D&E’s Restaurant in Deerfield for several years. Denzil and Effie operated a terminal for Universal Trucking, where he was also an over-the-road truck driver. He was an over-the-road truck driver for Glenn Cartage and Artim Transportation. He was then employed by Astro Shapes Aluminum Extrusion, Inc. in Struthers, first as a truck driver; he retired as a fleet mechanic.

Denzil enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, both on television and in the stadium, and having dinner at the Circle Restaurant. He loved spoiling his chihuahuas, Ellie Mae and Mickey. Denzil also loved to dance. He and Effie were the light of any party, as they danced so well together.

Denzil’s legacy will live on through his children, 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Denzil was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Mae; daughter, Tracey Lynne Deuley; parents, Colonel C. and Pearl Deuley; brothers, Glenn and David Deuley; and sisters, Virginia Hazel Deuley Butler and an unnamed baby sister.

Denzil leaves behind a sister, Lynda (Deuley) Hall of Long Lane, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, from 11 a.m. to noon, with a funeral service officiated by Adam Nobel at noon in the Hartzell Cemetery Chapel in Deerfield.
