Josette M. Roberts 1949-2020

POLAND — Josette M. “Jody” Roberts, 70, passed peacefully Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Hospice House in Poland, with her husband by her side.

She was born July 23, 1949, in Ravenna, the daughter of Jerry and Julia Foti Lenarcic.

Jody was a 1967 graduate of Newton Falls High School. She graduated cum laude from Kent State University in 1971 with her majors in French and Spanish.

Jody began her career at Warren John F. Kennedy High in 1971, teaching Spanish. It was while at JFK that she met co-worker Nick Roberts. Jody and Nick were married on July 27, 1974, and spent 45 wonderful years together. She took time off to raise her children, but returned to teaching in 1995, retiring from JFK in 2005.

Jody loved her dogs, Lacy and Lily, and cherished her memories of many previous dogs. Jody delighted her family with her cooking and baking, especially during the holidays. She would spend hours preparing her homemade wedding soup, lasagna and sauce. Jody was happy to share her recipes with friends and family, especially her brother.

Jody loved plants and flowers and enjoyed landscaping around the house. She was an avid Browns, Buckeyes, Cavs and Indians fan.

Above all, she cherished her time with her family. She enjoyed having girls’ night out time and attending her children’s various activities and sporting events.

Treasured memories of Jody will be carried on by her loving family, her husband, Nick; her sons, Chris (Jari Burgos) of Cleveland and Nick Jr. of Warren; her daughter, Julie of Lakewood; her brother, Gerald (Sharon) Lenarcic of Fort Myers, Fla.; her aunt, Stella DeMaria of Ravenna; and her cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jody in death were her parents, Jerry and Julia Lenarcic.

Per Jody’s wishes, no services will be held and cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends.

The family wishes to thank the ICU staff of St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and the nurses at the Hospice House for their loving care during her final days.
