David J. D’Onofrio Sr. 1949-2020

McDONALD — David J. D’Onofrio Sr., 70, died Saturday, July 18, 2020, due to complications with pneumonia at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

David was born Dec. 13, 1949, to John and Edith (Pascarelli) D’Onofrio. He was a veteran and served in the Navy, stationed in Richmond, Va. He also served as a police officer in Campbell.

David worked for Republic Steel in Youngstown. Due to the mill closures, he relocated to Florida. There he worked for KMD Ship Repair as a certified welder. He loved to weld and in his leisure time he enjoyed welding figurine-like statues for his family and friends.

David is survived by his two daughters, Michelle (Donald) Zarbaugh and Danielle D’Onofrio, both of McDonald; three sons, David (Rachel) D’Onofrio Jr. of Canfield, and Derek and Dane D’Onofrio of Florida; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Kathy) D’Onofrio of Boardman and Paul D’Onofrio of Cleveland; along with nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean (D’Onofrio) Schaffer from Youngstown.

His most loving and devoted time was spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
