William L. Sivert Jr. 1930-2020

NEWCOMERSTOWN — William Keith Sivert Jr., 89, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Riverside Manor Center, Newcomerstown.

William was born June 14, 1930, in Youngstown, the son of the late William K. and Carolyn Wetmore Sivert.

A graduate of Jackson-Milton High School, William was a machinist for Eastern Airlines for 21 years. He owned a machine shop and repaired lawn mowers during his time in Silver Springs and Ocala, Fla.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Silver Springs, Fla., where he was active with the Methodist Men’s Club. William received an endowed membership in the Meander Lodge No. 765 F. & A.M. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Antique Engine Club.

William was united in marriage to the former Clara Mae McDougal on Aug. 7, 1951. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Gregory (Barbara) Sivert, Karen (Samuel) Lanzarotta, Mark (Patricia) Sivert, William K. Sivert III and Cathy Sivert; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his infant son, Gary Sivert.

Private funeral services have taken place with burial in North Jackson Cemetery.

A memorial service to celebrate William’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local hospice facility or children’s hospital.
