Richard L. Scott 1923-2020 Mary Scott 1922-2020

SILVER SPRING, Md. — It is with great sadness that the family of Richard L. Scott and Mary E. Scott announce their sudden passing from COVID-19.

Mary passed away first, Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center. She was followed by her husband, Richard, Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Gynasis / Sligo Creek Rehabilitation Center. They were both 97.

Richard was born Feb. 20, 1923, in Johnstown, Pa. Mary was born June 17, 1922, in Hubbard, Ohio.

Richard attended The Rayen School in Youngstown and Mary graduated from Hubbard High School. They both retired from Packard Electric.

Richard and Mary had been united in marriage for more than 70 years.

They will be lovingly remembered by their children, Mary P. Eubanks (from first marriage) and Richard R. Scott; grandchildren, Danna Friendly and Ivy Scott; great-grandson, Anthony Friendly; and numerous other family members and friends.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Bishop and Naomi Scott; and siblings. Bernard, Morris, Alvarita, Wesley (Anita), James and John.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Pleasant and Virginia Hill; and siblings. William (Pearl), John, George, Elaine, Donald and Anthony.

The family of Richard and Mary Scott wish to extend sincere thanks to physicians and other health care workers at Chesapeake Urology, Dr. Peter Felderman; Holy Cross Home Care and Hospice, physical therapist Yvette Harrison and occupational therapist Kirstin Brubaker; Johns Hopkins physicians Dr. Crystal Ugochi Aguh, Dr. Lili Barouch, Dr.Gerren Perry Fabrizio and Dr. Mariam Philips; community health worker Dan Demmitt; Renaissance Foot and Ankle, Dr. Alan Deroy; Sligo Creek Rehabilitation Center, Ms. Chika, LMSW; home health aides, Jenny and Franklin; the doctors, nurses, and social workers at Holy Cross Hospital (they went above and beyond) and White Oak Medical Center; long-term Care Ombudsman, Mrs. Teasley; and health care advocate, Dorothy Reddic.

Burial and prayer service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum in Gwynn Oak, Md. The Rev. Marvin Underwood will officiate the prayer service.

Arrangements are by Chatham Harris Funeral Home in Baltimore, Md.
