James C. Lewis Sr. 1947-2020

YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. James C. Lewis Sr., 72, departed this life Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Hospice House in Poland.

Mr. Lewis was called “Bubba” by his family and friends. He was born Aug. 24, 1947, in Portland, Ark., a son of Howard Sr. and Lillie Mae Williams Lewis.

He had been employed by the Solid Waste Collections for over 25 years as an equipment operator.

He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed watching football and old western movies. He loved family gatherings and being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved sitting on the porch waving at people walking or driving past the house.

He leaves to cherish his legacy and memories of him, six children, James Jr. (Pam), Randy Sr. (Tracey), Sandra Faye, Rebecca, Sue Ann and Kevin Lewis; his siblings, Howard Jr. (Joyce) Lewis and Roosevelt Sr. (Rosemary) Lewis of Little Rock, Ark., Nancy (Joe Jr.) Frazier and Alberta Hampton of Youngstown, Lizzie Caldwell of Struthers, Debra Cobbin of Liberty, Charles Lewis and Charlotte Lewis and Pam Richardson, all of Little Rock, Ark.; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents and his wife of 53 years, the former Jewelean Polite, he was preceded in death by four brothers, LeAndrew Lewis, Leroy Lewis Sr., Willie Lewis and Daron Williams; three sisters, Lillie Mae Godfrey, Doris Gipson and Ozell Lewis; two granddaughters, Natica and Jamkita Lewis; a grandson, Randy Lewis Jr.; and great-grandson, JaShun Lewis.

There are no calling hours. Private services will be held for the family. Arrangements were entrusted to L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home.
