Tommy Lee Brown, 1951-2020

YOUNGSTOWN — Mr. Tommy Lee Brown, 68, peacefully transitioned to eternal rest Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his beloved family.

Mr. Brown was born Aug. 2, 1951, in Ward, Ala., a son of Matthew and Mary F. Tidmore Brown. He was a 1970 graduate of South High School.

Tommy was a member of Christ Centered Church and was a self-employed auto mechanic. He enjoyed fishing, playing social cards, Western movies, repairing cars and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, but above all things, he loved being with his grandchildren.

He leaves to mourn his passing, but to rejoice in his peace, his parents; four children, Tamika Irby of Chesapeake, Va., Duwan Irby of Austin, Texas, Sherika Irby of Youngstown and Tiffany Irby of Elyria; seven siblings, Shirley (Kenney) Willis, Brenda (Randy) Nuby, Eleanor Brown, Gregory (Debbie) Brown, Carol Brown, and Joyce Ann Brown, all of Youngstown, and Janice (Darrell) Cooper of Melbourne, Fla,; eight grandchildren; his companion, Lillian Peoples; best friend, Shawn Willis, who was also his nephew, and Willie Gibbs; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Antwan Daye; a brother, Emanuel Brown; and grandparents, Benny and Mamie Brown, Annabelle Roberts and A. G. Tidmore.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2020, at the Greater Friendship Baptist Church. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements are entrusted to the L. E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.
