Timothy A. Loudon 1950-2020

Born in Salem, Tim spent his childhood in Hanoverton, graduating from United High School in 1968. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and an MBA in finance from Miami University in Oxford. Tim was the son of Henry Ford Loudon Sr. and Mary Lou Haessly Loudon, who both preceded him in death.

He lived the past 42 years in Salem, where he and his family owned and operated a Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership, the A.J. Loudon Company. Tim and his brother Hank Jr. began working in the car business at an early age, washing and detailing cars and gradually learning the sales and administrative side of the business. Upon the death of their father in 1988, Tim and Hank Jr. ran the business until 2007 when it was sold.

Tim maintained a passion for cars of all types and a fascination for car racing. He loved the game of golf for the chance to spend time with friends and the opportunity to meet new people. After retiring from the car business, Tim developed a fondness for poker for the same reasons, and made many new friends by participating in local games and tournaments. He was a member and past president of the Salem Golf Club and a member of Moose Lodge 1012.

Tim leaves his wife of 44 years, Barb Luecke, and their two children, Emily Loudon of Salem and Andrew Loudon of Cleveland.

He also leaves a brother, Henry (Deb) of Lancaster, S.C.; five sisters, Krista (Ben) Suffron of Columbus, Linda Haller of Dublin, Laura (Dave) Nestic of Lewis Center, Marcia (Mike) Cope of Littleton, Colo., and Lisa (Jeff) Kudler of North Lima; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special gratitude is extended to the excellent doctors and staff at Salem Regional Medical Center, Seidman Cancer Center, University Hospital in Cleveland and the extraordinary teams at Salem Visiting Nurses, Community Hospice, Auburn Skilled Nursing, Fred’s Family Pharmacy in Salem and the Salem Fire Department.

The family appreciates the kindness and support of many friends and neighbors who kept Tim’s spirits up during his 16-month battle, fortifying his body and soul with frequent visits, homemade food and vanilla milkshakes.

Friends may call from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 11:30 a.m., with the Reverend Ross Jackson officiating.

Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
