Mary Lu Mickler, 1931-2020

STRUTHERS — Mary Lu Mickler, 88, died peacefully Jan. 23, 2020, at Windsor House at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center in Columbiana.

Mary Lu was born July 7, 1931, in Lowellville, the daughter of the late Michael and Philomena Gliemmo Mongine.

A graduate of Lowellville High School, Mary Lu was a PTA mom, a lifelong avid bowler and worked part-time at Youngstown Die Development. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and working in her flower garden. She most enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family.

Mary Lu is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Shurilla of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Janet (Philip) Larkin of Columbus; two grandchildren, Sydney and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and James, also of Columbus. In addition to her parents, Mary Lu was proceeded in death by her husband, Stephen E. Mickler, whom she married Feb. 27, 1954, and who died April 10, 1991; and her brother, George Mongine.

Visitation will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Kirila Funeral Home Inc., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers.

The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

A private burial will take place on Monday in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
