Lloyd M. Priester 1926-2020

FORT MILL, S.C. — Lloyd M. Priester, 93, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at Atrium Health Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

He was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Rimersburg, Pa., in Clarion County, a son of the late Russell and Blanch Priester.

Mr. Priester proudly served his country in the United States Navy Seabees in Okinawa, Japan, during World War II, building air strips and roads for the Allied Air Force.

He retired in March of 1990 from Standard Slag Co. after 43 1/2 years.

He was a member of the Salvation Army, where he played in the band for 55 years, Vision Support Group and the Mahoning Valley Landlord Association. An active volunteer, Mr. Priester served as Sunday school teacher and in other capacities for Hubbard Church of the Nazarene and Morning Star Fellowship Church. When time permitted, he spent his time remodeling homes.

He is survived by his four children, David C. Priester (Trina) of Pleasant Gap, Pa., James D. Priester of Girard, Donald L. Priester of Youngstown and Mary Sue (Ricardo) Castillo of Fort Mill, S.C.; stepson, Melvin (Shirley) Currie of Baltimore, Md.; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many much loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Ophelia Jones Currie Priester and Arlene Bochert Priester; stepson, Albert Currie; brothers, Dean, Vaughn and William Priester; and sisters, Evelyn Maynard and and EmmaJean Gorman.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Hubbard Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Cherry Lane, Hubbard, OH 44425. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

There will be a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
