John P. Bobby Jr. 1934-2019

BOARDMAN — John P. Bobby Jr., 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at Hospice House with his family at his side.

John was born Dec. 8, 1934, the son of John P. and Helen Ferenchak Bobby Sr., and was lifelong area resident.

He graduated from Wilson High School and went on to serve in the United States Army.

John worked at Wean United, then Park Vista in Youngstown.

John was a devout Catholic. He belonged to St. Dominic Church and prayed the rosary for a different person every day. He went to daily Mass at St. Dominic Church, as well as St. Matthias. He belonged to the first Catholic Slovak Union and the Slovak Catholic Sokol.

He was an avid golfer and belonged to several leagues; he liked football and baseball and was an Ohio State and YSU fan.

John enjoyed the simple life: sitting outside, grilling, feeding the birds and day trips in the car. He was a gentle, patient man with a good heart and a good sense of humor.

He leaves cherished memories to his daughter, Kim Bobby of Boardman; his sister, Isabelle Walko of Poland; his brother, Jim (Jackie) Bobby of Poland; and his sister, Jane Baran of Austin, Texas; plus several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Joyce, whom he married Feb. 16, 1963, — sadly, she passed April 2, 2005; his brothers, Gerald and William; and his sister, Geraldine.

Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St. Boardman.

Prayers will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dominic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave. Youngstown.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Wetzel and his staff for the many years of wonderful care. Also niece (nurse) Mary Ann Trevis, who helped care for him, and sister-in-law Joyce for all her care and support.
