Katherine Deutschlander 1932-2019

Katherine was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Romania, a daughter of the late George and Rose Bertleff Zautner Sr.

She was employed in housekeeping for various businesses and was also a seamstress at the Ursuline Motherhouse.

Katherine enjoyed making crafts and dollies. She especially enjoyed her time with her husband, selling their items for 30 years at the Rogers and Four Seasons flea markets.

Katherine is survived by her son, Martin (Desirea) Deutschlander of Youngstown and their dogs, Storm E Storm, Zowie 2 and Bella Go See; two daughters, Katherine (Patrick) Smith of Girard and Rosemarie (Ronald) Bell of Warren; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Thomae; and a brother, Mike Zautner.

She is also survived by her beloved dog, Fritz, with whom she shared her home and who never left her side.

Her husband, Martin Deutschlander, whom she married Feb. 14, 1952, passed away July 2, 2004.

Katherine was also preceded in death by a son, George Deutschlander; a brother, George Zautner Jr.; and her two dogs, Zowie Girl and Thor “toro toro.”

In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to the family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Professional arrangements were handled by Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown chapel.
