Andrew Ondrusek 1927-2019

GIRARD — Andrew Ondrusek, 92, of Girard, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at Omni Manor Nursing Home.

Andy was born April 1, 1927, in Ford City, Pa., the son of Martin and Mary (Totos) Ondrusek.

Andy retired from Superior Beverage, after 33 years, as a truck driver. He was a member of St. Rose Church, the American Legion Post No. 235 and the IFH Club, in Girard.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country during World War II. Andy enjoyed going to the casinos, gardening, fishing and watching NASCAR and football.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Barbara (Bucky) Lewis of Niles, Linda (Patrick) Duffy of Youngstown and Ronald “Marty” Ondrusek of Girard; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Andy is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Adams) Ondrusek, whom he married March 17, 1950, and died April 10, 2005; his brothers, Joseph, Thomas, August, Anthony and Paul Ondrusek; sisters, Mary O’Poole, Anne Charny, Barbara Bowes, Theresa Frantz and Vickie Powell; and his grandson, Timmy Duffy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24th, at St. Rose Church, preceded by a prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home. The family will receive relatives and friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Andy will be laid to rest in Belmont Park Cemetery with military honors.
