Man intentionally run over at Glenwood Avenue parking lot
YOUNGSTOWN — Surveillance video showed a person being hit by a car about 11:45 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a drive-thru store in the 2300 block of Glenwood Avenue on the South Side. He suffered critical injuries, but was in stable condition.
The report states that they were sent to the store for a “person down.” Officers saw a man on the ground in the parking lot with blood surrounding him and his head “profusely bleeding,” a Youngstown police report states.
An officer rendered first aid until ambulance personnel arrived.
A store employee had already closed the store, but he showed the officer surveillance video showing the victim standing in front of the store next to the main doors.
A white Nissan traveling on Glenwood Avenue entered the parking lot, and the victim approached the vehicle’s passenger side. On the cameras, it appeared there were two occupants in the front seat of the car, the report states.
The video, which also had audio, shows the victim walk out of the frame, but his shadow could be seen in front of the vehicle as it accelerated intentionally, screeching its tires, and struck the victim, leaving out of the parking lot east on Sherwood Avenue, the report states.
Ambulance personnel transported the victim to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with lights and siren activated because of the “critical” injuries the victim suffered. He was later determined to be in stable condition.
