Two men indicted on aggravated burglary on North Side
YOUNGSTOWN — Two men were indicted Thursday on an aggravated burglary charge in a Sept. 30 incident on Arlington Street on the North Side in which they are accused of breaking into the private room of a resident of the home and assaulting him.
Indicted are James R. Rammel, 41, of Arlington Street, and Deon D. Robinson, 38 of East Midlothian Boulevard. If convicted of the charge, each man could get about 10 years in prison.
According to a Youngstown police report, officers were called to the home for a fight and spoke with the victim on the front porch. He said Rammel, who lives in the same home, had just assaulted him.
The victim had multiple lacerations on his face / head, wrist and leg, the report states.
Rammel also was on the porch, and he had a small laceration on his nose that he said happened elsewhere. He said he was not in a fight that evening. He was detained in handcuffs and placed in the back of a cruiser.
The victim took officers to his room, which is a separately secured apartment, from the rest of the common areas of the house. He said he was relaxing in his room when Rammel and a second person began beating on the door. The victim said the two men eventually kicked the door in and began assaulting him with punches and kicks, as well as a glass bottle, which broke on his body, causing lacerations, the report states.
An officer could see that the doorframe was splintered, consistent with being forced open, the report states. The man said it’s possible the men took his phone, but he could not tell because of the disarray of the room.
The victim was treated at the scene for his injuries. Rammel was taken to jail.
