Liberty expands housing market

LIBERTY — With the influx of new businesses and infrastructure coming to the Mahoning Valley, a solution to the housing shortage has been contributed to, thanks to a new expansion.

On Thursday, Altobelli Real Estate, together with Home & Land Developers LLC, celebrated the launch of 32 building lots on the north end of Potters Circle in Kline’s Farm, a neighborhood along Belmont Avenue.

Jason Altobelli, a land developer and owner of Altobelli Real Estate, said their partnership with Home & Land Developers is an entity they created many years ago, resulting in various developments in the Valley.

Altobelli said that by creating more housing stock in the area, it’ll help take pressure off preexisting properties.

“It helps take pressure off the existing housing stock, which attracts new people, retains people. I think it checks a lot of the boxes, especially given all the job growth that we’re expecting,” Altobelli said. “Housing plays such an essential role in that being successful, for employment and attracting new people — the quality of life.”

Altobelli said Liberty Township has been “tremendous” to work with, thanking their former zoning inspector, Jim Rodway, for his efforts. Rodway retired Aug. 31.

“Now Melissa’s (Ritchie-Murphy) there, all the trustees have been supportive,” Altobelli said. “It’s been incredible. We’ve been here for probably 10 years now, and it’s been a great relationship and we’ve enjoyed working with them.”

Lyle Huffman, executive vice president of Government Affairs and Community Impact for the Youngstown / Warren Regional Chamber, echoed Altobelli’s sentiment about expanding housing options and congratulated him on his leadership in making the project possible.

“When there is investment in attainable, well-planned housing, it supports our efforts to grow the population, strengthens the region’s economic competitiveness and advances the growth that keeps the Valley moving forward,” Huffman said. “We’re proud to support efforts that help the region grow and thrive.”

Liberty Trustee Greg Cizmar said the new development wasn’t just great for the township’s community, but also Trumbull County.

“You build more houses, I mean, everybody says there’s a housing shortage, and I think the Altobellis are doing a great job,” Cizmar said.
