CANTON — South Range earned its first football state championship in school history Friday, dominating previously-undefeated Ironton 53-27 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.

In his last game for the Raiders, senior quarterback Billy Skripac played maybe the best game of his career, going 13-for-25 for 331 yards and 3 passing touchdowns. He also ran for 57 yards and 3 more touchdowns on the ground.

Skripac’s primary target was Shane Lindstrom, who pulled in 6 catches for 176 yards and a touchdown.

Blake Ewert paced the South Range run game, which came alive in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Ewert finished with 142 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Overall, the Raiders’ offense racked up 568 total yards of offense and averaged 8.4 yards per play, while the defense forced two turnovers and held the Tigers to their second-lowest point output of the season. Special teams also blocked a punt in the first half.
