Youngstown woman charged in repossession case

LIBERTY — A Youngstown woman was arrested after police were called to a Churchill-Hubbard Road car dealer who said a woman was threatening to “tear up the place.”

About an hour later, the same woman later identified as Mechole L. Washington was at a location at Loganway and Colonial Drive preventing the same car dealer from repossessing the woman’s vehicle.

Police officers at the business earlier had told the woman to get the belongings out of the car and meet them at the police lot. However, the woman didn’t follow those directions, and the car dealer again called 911 when he caught up to her at the Loganway and Colonial location.

“(She) has the caller blocked in,” a 911 dispatcher is quoted on a call sheet.

The report later stated the woman moved the car to the middle of the road, blocking traffic.

Trumbull County jail records show that Mechole L. Washington, 28, of South Garland Avenue, Youngstown, was booked into the facility at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday. Washington pleaded not guilty to charges of obstructing official business, menacing and resisting arrest before Judge Jeffrey Adler in Girard Municipal Court.

Court records show Washington posted 10 percent of an $11,500 bond and will appear again before Adler for a pretrial Thursday. The judge ordered Washington not to have contact with the car dealer.
