Fogerty, Hunt coming to Canfield Fair

CANFIELD — Country superstar Sam Hunt and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Fogerty will be the grandstand headliners for this year’s Canfield Fair.

Hunt will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 with special guests Lily Rose and Ryan Hurd. Fogerty will close the fair on Labor Day, Sept. 5, with Hearty Har opening.

Hunt only has two full-length albums, 2014’s “Montevallo” and 2020’s “Southside,” but the pair featured eight No. 1 country hits combined — “Leave the Night On,” “Take Your Time,” “House Party,” “Make You Miss Me,” “Body Like a Back Road,” “Kinfolks,” “Hard to Forget” and “Breaking Up Was Easy in the ’90s.” Seven of those songs also cracked the top 40 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 with “Body Like a Back Road” becoming a top 10 pop hit.

He picked up a ninth country number one last year with “23,” which may appear on his next album.

“Sam Hunt is huge,” JAC Live Owner / President Eric Ryan said.

This will be his first appearance in the Mahoning Valley. JAC Vice President Ken Bigley said they’d tried to book him in the past, but he ended up going to Cleveland and Pittsburgh markets instead.

Fogerty last played the market in 2018, when he did a co-headlining show with ZZ Top at the Covelli Centre.

As lead singer, guitar player and principal songwriter for Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fogerty is responsible for such iconic songs as “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” “Fortunate Son,” “Down on the Corner,” “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Green River,” “Hey Tonight” and “Long as I Can See the Light.”

In addition to the Rock Hall, Fogerty also is inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. And his solo hit “Centerfield,” played in ballparks around the country, earned him recognition from the Baseball Hall of Fame.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fogerty began streaming performances with his sons, Shane and Tyler, and his daughter, Kelsy. Those performances lead to the 2020 album release “Fogerty’s Factory,” a play off the 1970 CCR album “Cosmo’s Factory.”

Tickets for Hunt range from $42.50 to $125 while Fogerty tickets range from $35 to $99.50 Both shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday through Ticketmaster.

Online-only presales run from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 10 p.m. Thursday for both shows, and the password for both is: JACLIVE.
