2 men indicted on drug charges

Found with cash, cocaine and fentanyl

YOUNGSTOWN — A federal grand jury has indicted Vincent Barber and Ramon Wright on multiple drug charges following an investigation that turned up large amounts of cocaine and fentanyl in multiple homes on the South Side.

Barber, 59, was booked into the Mahoning County jail Tuesday on federal offenses related to dangerous drugs, according to jail records. He was arraigned Wednesday in U.S. District Court. Wright’s age was not available.

They are alleged to have possessed about $1.3 million in cash.

Their indictments allege they and others conspired to possess with the intent to distribute and to distribute cocaine, cocaine base, fentanyl and heroin from about February 2018 to about February 2019.

As part of the conspiracy the men used premises at 16 Gibson Street for storing controlled substances and selling controlled substances, the indictments allege.

Barber used a home at 34 Gibson St. for storing controlled substances, preparing controlled substances for sale and storing proceeds of selling controlled substances, the indictments allege.

Barber used a home at 36 Gibson St. for storing controlled substances, and Wright used a home at 11 Potomac Ave. for storing controlled substances, the indictments allege.

Wright bought the home at 11 Potomac Ave. in February 2018 and in November 2018 he bought 16 Gibson St., the document states. Barber maintained electrical service for 34 Gibson St. in his name, and on Feb. 8, 2019, Barber delivered about $300,000 in cash to an undercover law enforcement officer, the document alleges.

Wright conducted counter-surveillance while Barber delivered cash to an undercover law enforcement officer.

On Feb. 13, 2019, Wright and Barber possessed about 57 pounds of heroin and fentanyl and $1,224,36 in cash at 16 Gibson St., the document alleges.

On Feb. 13, 2019, Barber possessed heroin, cocaine, a handgun, an AR-15 assault rifle with an obliterated serial number and another pistol at 36 Gibson St., the government alleges.

On Feb. 13, 2019, Wright possessed 46 pounds of cocaine and a revolver at 11 Potomac Ave., the indictment alleges.
