WHAT: Township trustees organizational meeting Jan. 11

PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Rich Harkins and Edward Whittaker

Trustees:

• Named Gerberry as chairman and Harkins as vice chairman;

• Set meetings for 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month;

• Received a letter from Gov. Mike DeWine on the recent awarding of a $3 million grant from the Water / Wastewater Infrastructure Grant Program through the Department of Development for an elevated water tank and booster pump station in the township;

• Heard from Gerberry the township is waiting on a planned community building and police training center for the park off state Route 46. He said officials are checking to see if American Rescue Plan funds can be used for the project. Gerberry said the township has received around $850,000 in ARP funds;

• Increased the hourly rate of pay for part-time police officers from $11 to $18 per hour effective Jan 3. Officials said the reason for the increase is to retain and attract part-time police officers within the department;

• Approved membership with Trumbull County Council of Governments for five years at $200;

• Rehired Dean Longwell as a truck driver with the road department effective Feb. 1 at 80 percent of his former hourly rate. He was retired effective Jan. 31;

• Accepted the resignation of Kenneth Griffin Jr. as a police officer effective Dec. 26. He has accepted a position with Liberty police.
