WHAT: Village council meeting Tuesday
PRESENT: Christopher Graff, Anthony Lattanzio, Martha Morgan, Michael Thompson and Mayor Timothy Sicafuse.
ABSENT: Councilman Samuel Moffie and James Walkama
Council:
• Heard from Dave Smith, Poland Historical Society trustee, about the identification of trees on the Village Green;
• Heard from resident Mike Zembower, director of Rosalie’s Forever Footprints, about the nonprofit putting on “The Poland Express,” a villagewide event featuring Santa Claus touring the streets the days leading up to the annual tree lighting ceremony;
• Heard from Cindy Best, chairwoman of Celebrate Poland, about the success of the group and discussed moving the celebration to fall instead of summer based on the feedback from attendees;
• Set trick or treat for 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31;
• Discussed the possible reorganization of council committees;
• Authorized the mayor to hire a part-time street department employee at the starting salary of $12 per hour to be increased to $13 per hour after the 60-day probationary period;
• Authorized the mayor to hire a street department employee at a starting salary of $14 per hour with no probationary period.
