More than one out of every three Ohioans have completed the COVID-19 vaccination process.

The number of people in the state getting COVID-19 inoculations has slowed in the past three to four weeks, but Ohio surpassed a milestone Wednesday as 33.71 percent of the population was fully vaccinated.

Also, 4,757,887 people, 40.7 percent of the state’s population, had at least started getting inoculated as of 6 a.m. Wednesday, including 21,465 in the previous 24 hours, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

In Mahoning County, 40.23 percent of the population (92,004 people) had received at least one dose, along with 38.34 percent of the population in Trumbull County (75,910 people) and 32.7 percent in Columbiana County (33,313 people) as of 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to the ODH.

It noted 3,940,504 people finished the vaccinations as of 6 a.m. Wednesday, including 47,561 in the prior 24 hours.

The state should exceed 4 million by today or Friday.

In Mahoning County, 33.84 percent of the population (77,384 people) had completed the process while 31.27 percent of the population in Trumbull (61,911 people) and 28.18 percent of the population in Columbiana (28,714 people) had finished as of 6 a.m. Wednesday.

CLINICS

The Trumbull County Combined Health District is having vaccination clinics at the Eastwood Mall in Niles at the former Lane Bryant space near Center Court.

People can either register for the clinics online at gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov or walk in.

The clinics are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Tuesday and May 18 as well as 9 a.m. to noon May 13 and 5 to 8 p.m. May 20. All of the clinics have the Moderna or the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccines available except Saturday’s at which only Moderna is available.

Also, Mahoning County Public Health and Mercy Health-Youngstown have partnered to offer COVID-19 vaccines at school districts in the county.

So far, 160 students, educators and administrators at six school districts have been vaccinated with three other districts to be done by the end of the week.

Mahoning County Public Health also is having a vaccination clinic 3 to 6 p.m. May 13 at Sebring McKinley High School, 225 E. Indiana Ave. Appointments can be made online at mahoninghealth.org with walk-ins welcome.

COVID-19 DATA

Wednesday was the 19th straight day Ohio reported fewer than 2,000 new COVID-19 cases, the second longest such streak since the start of the pandemic.

The state was under 2,000 new daily cases from the start of the pandemic in March 2020 until it reported 2,039 cases Oct. 14.

The 1,450 new cases reported Wednesday was down from the daily average of 1,648 for the past 21 days, according to the ODH.

The state had a total of 1,078,734 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday with 1,028,478 presumed recovered.

The ODH provides death information on Tuesdays and Fridays. There were 19,344 deaths as of Tuesday.

Mahoning County had 21,439 total COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday with 20,231 presumed recovered and 586 deaths, according to the ODH.

Trumbull County had 15,974 total COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday with 15,043 presumed recovered and 466 deaths.

Columbiana County had 8,743 total COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday with 8,307 presumed recovered and 229 deaths.
