Teen dies after 3-vehicle crash

WARREN TOWNSHIP — A 16-year-old involved in a three-vehicle accident around noon on Tuesday, on Caleb Road at Burwell Road here, died on Wednesday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Mark Craig, 16, of Leavittsburg, was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, following the accident. Neither the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office nor the patrol provided his address, but Warren Township police confirmed he lived in Leavittsburg.

The coroner’s office, according to its news release, was notified of his death at 9:25 p.m Wednesday. An autopsy will be conducted at the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office.

The incident remains under investigation by the Youngstown Police Department and the Mahoning County Coroner’s office, the news release states.

Craig was traveling east on Caleb Road, on a 2000 Honda XR 100 off- road motorcycle, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Roger A. Humphrey III, 19, of Leavittsburg, was eastbound on Caleb Road, on a 2015 Suzuki RM 85 off-road motorcycle.

Arthur E. Tilton, 18, of Leavittsburg, was at a stop sign at Burwell Road, in a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu.

Tilton started south across Caleb Road into the path of Craig and Humphrey, according to the state patrol. They struck Tilton’s vehicle, causing Craig to fly off the motorcycle.

Tilton and Humphrey were not injured.

Alcohol and / or drugs are not suspected in the crash, the patrol said

Warren Township fire and police departments assisted at the crash scene. The state patrol’s crash reconstruction unit is assisting with the investigation.
