COVID-19 cases in Ohio continue downward trend

Statewide, new COVID-19 reports still number in the 1,000’s, but the reported cases continue to show decreasing trends.

As of Saturday, 1,506 new cases were reported across the state. That number is down 244 from the 1,750 reported on Friday. The new cases brings the total to 977,736. If the trend continues, new reported cases could drop to below 1,000 by the middle of next week.

Over the last 21 days, the reported cases in the state hit a peak Feb. 23 with 2,775 cases reported that day. The 21-day reported case average stands at 1,914, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Since Tuesday, the number of COVID-19-related deaths increased by 752. Because of a new data collection policy, daily death totals aren’t available.

Locally, Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties reported a combined 51 new cases Saturday with 22 in Mahoning, 26 in Trumbull and three in Columbiana.

None of the counties reported any new deaths either, according to the ODH.

Positive presumed recovered cases have also increased statewide and locally. The new total of 923,986 presumed recovered cases in the state shows an increase of 279 from the cases reported Friday. In Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana, the presumed recovered cases totals 90 new reports.

The total for each county is 48, 26 and 16 for Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana, respectively.
