WHAT: City council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Bill Williams, Bonnie Viele, Robin Zambrini, Michael Toda, Jerome Crowe, Michael Kerr, Ryan Hallapy and Mayor Ben Kyle

ABSENT: Michael Mogg

Council:

• Heard from Kyle the $425,000 Grandview Avenue that will be covered by an Ohio Public Works Commission loan program in 2020 will be put out for bid this spring. He said the project will be a combined culvert replacement / paving project to improve a culvert on the street that is failing;

• Gave final reading to increase the pay of the mayor’s secretary whose wage will increase to $35,400 in 2021, $35,900 in 2022, and $36,500 in 2023;

• Gave second reading to adjusting the pay of the clerk of council to $7,500 per year and also $12.50 per hour for any work over 30 hours per month effective in 2021;

• Announced a drive-thru smoke detector giveaway for Hubbard city and township residents will be 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 20 at the city building parking lot. Those needing smoke detectors will need to show identification of being a local resident. The smoke detectors are being provided by Phil Mazi of Handyman Hardware. Kyle said local high school students will help with the giveaway. Members of the Eagle Joint Fire District will be on site to assist and offer fire safety tips.
