Repeat offender indicted in Austintown murder

Charged in Oct. murder in Austintown

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury on Thursday indicted Samuel A. Richard, 31, of Youngstown, in the Oct. 16 aggravated murder of Keylan T. Davis, 32, at 1080 Compass Drive West in Austintown.

Richard also was indicted on murder and specifications on both charges that he possessed a firearm and is a repeat violent offender. The specifications could add years to his sentence if convicted. He also was indicted on being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Mahoning County Coroner’s office said Davis died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The repeat violent offender specifications stem from Richard having been convicted of felonious assault in 2017 in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

The grand jury also indicted the following people:

• Matthew C. Varga, 35, Sexton Street, Struthers, attempted heroin possesssion;

• William P. Dawson, 53, Mahoning County jail, unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance and domestic violence;

• Cory R. Davis, 27, Mahoning County jail, cocaine possession;

• Taneja D. Williams, 22, Clarencedale Ave., theft;

• Ralph G. Stoddard, 29, Weston Avenue, felonious assault and domestic violence;

• Christopher E. Esenwein, 42, E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon, aggravated drug possession, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and domestic violence;

• Kobe N. Hayden, 21, Mahoning County jail, aggravated robbery with notice of a prior conviction specification and repeat violent offender specification;

• Amber D. Fleece, 25, Clarencedale Avenue, tampering with evidence, cocaine possession and aggravated drug possession;

• Jerry W. McPherson, 56, Mahoning County jail, three counts of operating a motor vehicle under the influence;

• Xiomara C. Acosta, 28, Dogwood Lane, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and cocaine possesssion.
