Two arraigned on obscenity charges

YOUNGSTOWN — Two Austintown men indicted Sept. 10 on multiple charges of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person pleaded not guilty at their arraignments Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Bond amounts were continued for Robert A. Basic, 44, of Oak Trace Street, who was indicted on 50 counts, and Ryan N. Marenkovic, 44, of the Mahoning County jail, who was indicted on seven counts.

They were charged following an investigation by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.

As a condition of Basic’s bond, he is not allowed to have any electronic devices. Basic was released on $15,000 bond in August. Marenkovic remains in the jail.

The task force executed search warrants at the homes of the two men Aug. 11, finding evidence of child pornography, Maj. Jeff Allen of the Mahoning County Sheriff’s office said.
