The Mahoning Valley did not report any new deaths from COVID-19 on Friday, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

Trumbull County remained at 126 deaths, while Mahoning and Columbiana counties stayed at 274 and 71 deaths Friday, respectively.

Across the state, 4,403 deaths were reported, or 49 more than Thursday.

Seeing the largest increase in cases locally was Mahoning County, with 10 more cases Friday, bringing the total to 2,935.

That’s an increase of more than 60 cases in one week.

Trumbull County cases rose by four Friday, with the new number at 1,800, and an increase of nearly 40 within the last week.

In Columbiana County, one new COVID-19 case was reported Friday for a new total of 1,902. Since last week, there have been 30 new cases of the virus there.

Statewide, 135,326 cases were reported Friday, an increase of 1,240 from the day before.

The ODH reports that the state has seen 14,236 hospitalizations as a result of the virus.

Mahoning County ranks in ninth place out of the state’s 88 counties for case count, with Columbiana County in 16th place and Trumbull County in 17th place.

There are a presumed 113,053 people who have recovered from COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

On Thursday during his routine news conference, Gov. Mike DeWine said that a travel advisory remains in place for four states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas and Alabama.

Ohioans should not go to those states for leisure, he said, as the positivity rate is greater than 15 percent for each.
