WHAT: Board of Education meeting July 27

PRESENT: Amanda O’Neill, Rocky Adams, William Cummings, Don Newell and Tony Pantone Jr.

The board:

● Approved adjustments of the 2020-21 school calendar with first day for students moved from Aug. 25 to Aug. 31. Kindergarten assessment will take place Aug. 31 to Sept. 9 with full day for kindergarten moved from Sept. 2 to Sept. 10. The Nov. 3 waiver day for students has been canceled with a regular school day to be held;

● Adopted a restart plan for the 2020-21 year with a hybrid learning model in place with face-to-face and online learning. Students will be divided into two cohorts and attend school in person two days per week and have remote learning the other days. Cohort A will attend school on campus Mondays and Thursdays and cohort B will attend on Tuesdays and Fridays and all students will be remote learning on Wednesdays. At home days, students will work on remote assignments or tasks assigned during the in-person days. Plans may change;

● Received $278,332 in CARES Act funds and $93,621 in coronavirus relief funds to be used for any coronavirus-related expenses and a $595,493 student wellness and success grant;

● Approved a one-year contract for Margaret Herberger as an elementary school intervention teacher;

● Approved three extended days, for the 2020-21 school year only, for Leah Orlowski as a district speech pathologist to address speech and language evaluations that were delayed because of the COVID-19 school closure.
