Felonious assault trial moved to October
YOUNGSTOWN — The trial for a 29-year-old Youngstown man charged with assaulting a police officer has been moved to the fall.
Jamar Houser appeared for a pre-trial hearing Wednesday in front of Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge John Durkin.
Houser is charged with two counts of felonious assault and one count of obstructing official business. His trial has been reset from Aug. 17 to Oct. 26.
Houser, who was picked up by federal marshals in May 2019 as one of the top five wanted persons, remains in custody pending the posting of a $25,000 bond.
The case involved a March 2019 incident where a man allegedly punched his live-in girlfriend in the mouth. While they were at the hospital treating the woman, the man tried to run from hospital security where one of the officers was injured during the scuffle.
