Committee votes on tech car loan

The U.S. House Appropriations Committee voted for a spending bill that includes $5 million in funding for a loan program Lordstown Motors Corp. may seek.

The bill moves to the House for a vote, said U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Howland, an Appropriations Committee member.

President Donald Trump’s budget proposed the elimination of the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Loan Program, as it has every year during his administration. Congress has never eliminated the funding.

Lordstown Motors hasn’t decided if it will seek funding from the program to repurpose the former General Motors Assembly facility for its Endurance all-electric truck.
