Spring, summer concerts announced in Valley

Acts range from Judas Priest to Air Supply

Staff report

Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre, Covelli Centre and Robins Theatre all announced new concerts Monday.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band will be joined by St. Paul and the Broken Bones and Gabe Dixon for a July 8 show at the Youngstown amp. The Tedeschi Trucks Band is led by the wife-and-husband pairing of Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks, who’ve built a growing fan base with a sound that draws from American soul, blues, country and rock.

Tickets range from $35 to $89.50.

Making their return to the amp will be Michael Stanley and the Resonators and Donnie Iris and the Cruisers on July 18. The pairing originally was supposed to open the downtown Youngstown venue last year, but the show was postponed due to rain.

Tickets range from $25 to $75.

Both shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covelli Centre’s Southwoods Health box office and through Ticketmaster. An online-only presale runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday with the password: SUMMER.

Judas Priest returns to the Covelli Centre on Sept. 24 as part of its 50th anniversary tour. The heavy metal icons played a sold-out show at the Youngstown arena in 2018.

Sabaton will open the 7:30 p.m. concert. Tickets range from $48.75 to $102.75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covelli Centre’s Southwoods Health box office and through Ticketmaster. An online-only presale runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday with the password: COVELLI.

R&B singer Will Downing is booked for a 7 p.m. show April 24 at the Robins Theatre for a concert presented by Omega Phi Psi Youngstown, and Air Supply will play the Warren venue May 3.

Downing’s 30-year career includes 21 albums and R&B hits such as “I Go Crazy,” “Wishing on a Star,” “I Try,” “A Million Ways,” “Sorry I” and “Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This” (a duet with Rachelle Ferrell).

Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 the day of the show and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Robins Theatre box office and through Eventbrite. Tickets also will be available at RBG Eatery in Warren, Goldies Flower Shop in Youngstown and Klassy Kuts Hair Salon in Farrell, Pa.

Air Supply vocalists Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock have been singing together since 1975, and their top 40 and adult contemporary hits include “Lost in Love,” “All Out of Love,” “The One That You Love,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Making Love Out of Nothing at All.”
