Shooting threat at Boardman High School investigated
Staff report
BOARDMAN — No charges have been filed as of yet from threats made by a student toward a township school.
An anonymous parent contacted the school resource officer at Boardman Glenwood Junior High School on Feb. 13 to report threats made toward the school the previous day by a juvenile, a police report states.
The parent alleged that they heard the juvenile make threats about “shooting up” the school, as well as discussing a “safe list” of students the juvenile would not harm.
During an investigation, other students confirmed the threats were made and they appeared briefly online through the SnapChat app.
The parent also alleged the juvenile mentioned a teacher by name in the threats.
Once the resource officer learned of the information, the school’s principal was contacted, and the student was questioned.
No weapons were found in search of the student’s book bag and locker. The student told the officer the statements were “only joking.” The student’s mother was informed.
