Assault involved car and concrete

29-year-old struck at Sherwood and Glenwood avenues

YOUNGSTOWN — A city woman, 30, reported that her male friend, 29, was hit by a car at the intersection of Sherwood and Glenwood avenues at 8:17 p.m. Wednesday — and that the driver later came to her house and threw a chunk of concrete through the front window, injuring her friend again.

The woman said she and her friend were traveling in her car when she lost her cell phone beside her driver’s seat. Her friend got out of the car and came around to her door to find the phone. After opening her door, a car driven by an ex-boyfriend purposely hit him, pinning her friend between the door and the car, she said.

Her friend got back into the car, and they followed the suspect until a dispatcher told her to end the chase.

She and her friend went to her house on East Boston Avenue, where the ex-boyfriend later threw the concrete through the window, hitting her male friend in the back.

The victim told police his arms, back and legs hurt from the incidents, but he did not seek medical attention. An officer saw the broken window and concrete, but the woman had cleaned up much of the damage. Her car also had fresh damage on the driver’s door.

The woman also played a recording on her cell phone of the ex-boyfriend threatening to kill her and her male friend, police said. He also admitted on the recording to hitting her car and her friend, police said.

The ex-boyfriend is not yet charged in Youngstown Municipal Court in connection with the incident, according to court records.
