YOUNGSTOWN — A Youngstown man was sentenced to seven years in prison Wednesday for his part in an armed robbery at Circle K in Struthers two years ago.

Frank G. Emerson Jr., 43, 3570 Valerie Drive, appeared before Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Anthony D’Apolito.

Court records show Emerson pleaded guilty June 27 to charges of robbery and aggravated robbery.

He was sentenced to a four-year prison term plus three years on a gun specification because a gun was used to commit the crime.

A Struthers police report states two armed men robbed clerks on Oct. 23, 2017, at the Circle K convenience store on Maplewood Avenue.

Alex A. Parent, 34, 716 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, was arrested the next day, while Emerson turned himself in to Struthers police Oct. 24, 2017, the report states.

Court records show Parent, who pleaded guilty to robbery and aggravated robbery charges with the gun specification, was sentenced Sept. 23 by D’Apolito to eight years in prison.

Parent is serving his sentence at Lorain Correctional Institution.

On Wednesday, Emerson’s attorney asked the judge to delay the start of Emerson’s sentencing for two weeks/

D’Apolito, however, refused, ordering the defendant to be taken into custody immediately. Records show that Emerson had been free after posting a $10,000 bond.
