Austintown captain retires after 45 years

AUSTINTOWN — Police Capt. Bryan Kloss retired from the department at the beginning of the month with close to 46 years of service, according to police Chief Robert Gavalier.

Gavalier said Kloss’s work with the department was impeccable.

“He was basically my right-hand-man,” Gavalier said.

Gavalier said it’s still undecided if there would be a celebration for Kloss’s retirement.

Man robbed of bicycle; 3 suspects apprehended

YOUNGSTOWN — A man was robbed of his green bicycle on Wick Avenue near Rayen Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Monday, according to law enforcement.

Youngstown State University police sent out an alert following the incident, stating that three suspects were apprehended, while one suspect, described as a male wearing a white shirt and orange hat, fled. No weapons were involved.

The stolen bicycle was spotted shortly after the incident, according to Youngstown police, who are investigating.
