Pedestrian killed on Route 224 in Poland Township Sunday night
POLAND TOWNSHIP — A Poland woman was killed in a pedestrian-motor vehicle crash along U.S. Route 224 Sunday night.
Bryson Stepleton, 18, of New Castle, Pa., was traveling westbound on U.S. 224 when his vehicle struck Rita Barbush, 87, who was crossing U.S. 224 at Diana Drive from the north side of the road and was walking southbound around 9:30 p.m., according to the Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Barbush died of her injuries at the scene.
Bryson and his passenger were wearing seatblets and were not injured, the patrol report states. The crash remains under investigation.

Bryson Stepleton, 18, of New Castle, Pa., was traveling westbound on U.S. 224 when his vehicle struck Rita Barbush, 87, of Poland, who was crossing US 224 from the north side of the roadway and was walking southbound, according to the Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash took place at 9:30 p.m. at Diana Drive, according to a Highway Patrol news release. Barbush died of her injuries at the scene. Bryson and his passenger who were wearing seatbelts were not injured as a result of this crash.
This crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol Canfield Post and its crash reconstruction unit.
