Delaware couple dies in crash near I-80, I-76 interchange

NORTH JACKSON — The Hiram Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a double fatal crash which occurred Tuesday on the Interstate 76 portion of the Ohio Turnpike near the Interstate 80 interchange in Jackson Township.

Dead were two Delaware residents who were traveling in a 2019 Toyota Tacoma that was eastbound and went off the left side of the roadway, through the grass median, striking a concrete barrier before spinning into the westbound lanes. A 2020 Toyota Rav 4, traveling westbound, struck the Tacoma, the patrol reported.

Dead were Jeffrey S. Horn, 68, the driver of the Tacoma, who died after being transported to an area hospital, and his passenger, identified as 68-year-old Paula Horn, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the report states.

The Horns were from Milford, Delaware.

The driver of the Rav4 was identified as Laura K. Frick, 37, of Milford, Delaware, who was transported from the scene to an area hospital for minor injuries, the report states.

The crash, which occurred just after 2 p.m., remains under investigation.
