State to lower COVID-19 vaccination age to 50 on Thursday

Beginning Thursday, the age to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine will be reduced to 50 and those who have type 2 diabetes and end-state renal disease can also get the vaccine.

Gov. Mike DeWine today announced the eligibility age reduction from 60 to 50 and added the two medical conditions.

There are about 1.4 million people in those groups with 1.2 million of them between the ages of 50 and 59, DeWine said.

Also, the statewide COVID-19 vaccination scheduling system went live today. It is gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov.
