Ohio’s 2 p.m. virus update: 81 COVID-19 deaths so far, including 19 in Valley

There have been at least 81 COVID-19 confirmed deaths in Ohio as of today, including 19 in the Mahoning Valley, according to the daily 2 p.m. update from the Ohio Department of Health.

That is up from at least 65 confirmed deaths — including 17 in the Valley — Wednesday. The state number Wednesday didn’t include two deaths in Trumbull County that the county’s health district reported later in the day.

Since then, there’s been another death each in Mahoning and Trumbull.

There are now 11 deaths in Mahoning, six in Trumbull and two in Columbiana counties.

There are 2,902 confirmed cases of the virus in the state today, up from 2,547 Wednesday, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

There are 192 cases in Mahoning County, up from 177 Wednesday. Mahoning continues to have the highest per capita number of cases and deaths from the virus.

There are 63 cases in Trumbull County, up from 58 a day earlier.

In Columbiana County, there are 22 cases, up from 19 Wednesday.

Statewide, 802 people have been hospitalized as of today because of COVID-19, up from 679 Wednesday.

Also, there are 260 people in intensive-care units with the virus, up from 222 a day earlier.
