Ohio 2 p.m. update: No new COVID-19 deaths in Valley for first time since March 28

There are at least 213 confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the state, including 42 in the Mahoning Valley. But no new deaths were reported in the Valley over the last 24 hours.

There were 193 state deaths and 42 in the Valley a day earlier.

This is the first time since March 28 that there were no new fatalities reported in the three-county area.

This came a day after 10 Valley deaths were reported including nine in Mahoning County. The county’s public health department said not all of those deaths happened in one day.

Mahoning remains the leader among counties in the state for COVID-19 deaths with 28.

Trumbull County still has eight deaths and Columbiana County remained at six deaths today, unchanged from Wednesday.

There are 5,512 confirmed cases of the virus in Ohio today, up from 5,148 Wednesday.

There are 334 cases in Mahoning County, up from 305 Wednesday. Mahoning has the most confirmed novel coronavirus of any county in the state per capita.

There are 132 cases in Trumbull County, up from 129 Wednesday.

In Columbiana County, there are 81 cases, up from 71 a day earlier.

Statewide, 1,612 people have been hospitalized as of today because of the virus, up from 1,495 Wednesday.

There are 497 people in intensive-care units, up from 472 Wednesday.
