Ohio 2 p.m. update: 45 COVID-19 deaths in Mahoning Valley; 231 in Ohio

There are at least 231 confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the state today, including 45 in the Mahoning Valley, according to the Ohio Department of Health’s daily 2 p.m. update.

There were 213 state deaths and 42 in the Valley a day earlier.

The three new Valley deaths are all in Mahoning County.

Mahoning remains the leader among counties in the state for COVID-19 deaths with 31.

Trumbull County still has eight deaths and Columbiana County remained at six deaths today, unchanged from Thursday.

There are 5,878 confirmed cases of the virus in Ohio today, up from 5,512 Thursday.

There are 358 cases in Mahoning County, up from 337 Thursday. Mahoning has the most confirmed novel coronavirus of any county in the state per capita.

There are 149 cases in Trumbull County, up from 137 Thursday.

In Columbiana County, there are 92 cases, up from 82 a day earlier.

Statewide, 1,755 people have been hospitalized as of today because of the virus, up from 1,612 Thursday.

There are 548 people in intensive-care units, up from 497 Thursday.
