Builders host area home show
SPRING EVENT: The Mahoning Valley Home Builders Association will host a Home and Garden Show from March 12 to 14 at Mr. Anthony’s, 7440 South Ave., Boardman. Admission is free with masks required. The show runs noon to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 13.
REMARKABLE WOMEN: The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will premiere “Remarkable Women of Trumbull County” in its monthly Bites and Bits of History online video presentation at noon on March 18. Meghan Reed, executive director of the Trumbull County Historical Society, will be the main presenter.
Reed’s program explores the lives of several influential and noteworthy Trumbull County women. Their backstories, careers and impacts will be highlighted, as she dives into how they not only shaped the local community but forever changed the world around them.
With continued precautions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this monthly public outreach program continues to be presented online. The public will be able to view this video -presentation on the MVHS YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDHqcfsLJNsV5s-bnahmTNA/videos.
Bites and Bits of History lunchtime programs are presented by the John and Loretta Hynes Foundation.
CEMETERY CLEANUP: Tod Homestead Cemetery’s annual cleanup will be March 15. All decorations on the graves, including solar lights and artificial flowers in cemetery vases, will be removed at this time. Anyone wishing to recover their decorations must do so before that date. The cemetery is located at 2200 Belmont Ave., Youngstown.
WOMEN’S HISTORY: To celebrate Women’s History Month, the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will present a virtual program “Feminist Literature through the Ages” 2 p.m. March 13. The program will explore works of feminist literature and the ways women writers have advocated for equality of the sexes for more than two centuries.
