Seeing Eye: Forum to focus on COVID-19 disparities

CONVERSATION ON RACIAL DISPARITIES: A.C.T.I.O.N. & AFP (Diversity Committee) will hold a communitywide virtual Zoom informational forum on attacking COVID-19 titled “Conversation on Racial Disparities from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Pre-registration is required at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAvfuqupzwpGtKUeiE5-hGjpFyP-a2NdONW Guest Speakers are Carol L. Bennett, assistant provost for diversity and inclusion; Leigh Greene, Youngstown Health Department; Dr. James Baber, Eastern Gateway Community College and ACTION, president; Dr. Lashale Pugh, medical geographer; Pastor Dwight Dumas; author Dionne Dowdy, AFP, Diversity Committee.

The diverse and informational forum is geared to bringing the community together and will be an analysis of the how structures, once constructed, can continue to persist without conscious input from anyone today. As a grassroots organizing initiative, ACTION seeks to be broad- based and inclusive along racial, social and economic lines.

CURBSIDE RECYCLING RESTART: Republic Services will resume curbside recycling today for households normally served under “A Week”. On June 8, curbside recycling will resume for households serviced under “B Week”. Refer to your curbside calendar or visit: www.greenteam.cc to confirm your week.

EVENT CANCELED: The Dr. Susan K. Leone Memorial Golf Scramble for Scleroderma has been canceled for 2020 because of the pandemic. The event will be held next year.
